The U.S. Postal Service is offering a $20,000 early retirement incentive to eligible employees in its bid to slash 7,500 positions, and it also is closing seven district offices, the agency announced Thursday. The United States Postal Service is operating at a huge loss. Competition from email and the other carriers has forced their hand. They have been looking into a five day delivery week for some time now and it seems the Postmaster General is on board. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe issued the following statement today.
