On a Pallet, Ship It Freight

We are in a recession and anything that can be done to save some money is being pondered. Unfortunately, when shipping a package, sometimes it it just common sense to pay for specialized transit.

We commonly speak with customers that are shipping items in the stock manufacturers packaging. The problem with many of these shipments is that most of them are meant to be shipped on a pallet, with other like items. They are not packaged to be sent via small parcel carrier. They inevitably get damaged in transit.

As this is a hot topic, we have stumbled upon a video of a FedEx delivery. Apparently, this video shows a $100K Cisco switch that is packaged on a built in pallet. It is getting rolled as it is being delivered. Notice the pallet on the top at one point!
Please note: This is not meant to be a ‘dig’ at FedEx and may just be an outlier. That being said, this item should have been shipped via common carrier/motor freight service.
