2011 FedEx Rate Increases

FedEx FedEx has just released their 2011 rate changes and there are increases across the board. These changes take place on January 3, 2011. The cost for shipping packages will increase an average of 5.9% for U.S. services, but the fuel surcharge will decrease by 2%. FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL also will implement 6.9% general rate increases (GRI) effective Nov. 1, 2010.

Of interest to Shipsurance (and most shippers) are the declared value fee hikes. Charges will increase from $0.70 to $0.75 per $100 of value. U.S. package services charges will apply to shipments valued in excess of $100, and the minimum charge will increase from $2.10 to $2.25

Also Effective Jan. 3, 2011:

  • – FedEx Express U.S. import rates will change.
  • – FedEx Express U.S. rates to Puerto Rico will change.
  • – FedEx International Premium® rates will change.
  • – There will be changes to FedEx International Priority® and FedEx International Economy® minimum rates.
